Boiling Method:
Fill a large pot with enough water to cover the lobster completely. Add salt to the water (about 1-2 tablespoons per liter).
Bring the water to a rapid boil over high heat.
Grasp the lobster firmly and carefully place it headfirst into the boiling water. Be cautious to avoid splashing.
Cover the pot with a lid and let the lobster boil for about 8-10 minutes. The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the lobster.
To check for doneness, carefully lift the lobster out of the water with tongs. The lobster shell should be bright red, and the meat should be opaque and firm. The antennae should also easily detach when gently pulled.
Once cooked, remove the lobster from the pot and place it on a plate or cutting board.
Preparing for Serving:
Allow the lobster to rest for a few minutes to cool slightly before handling.
Twist off the claws and legs by holding the body firmly with one hand and twisting the claws and legs off with the other.
Crack open the claws and legs using a lobster cracker or kitchen shears to access the meat inside.
Separate the tail from the body by twisting and pulling gently.
To remove the tail meat, hold the body firmly and pull the tail away. If needed, use a knife or kitchen shears to cut through the underside of the tail shell to access the meat.
Serve the lobster meat warm with melted butter and lemon wedges on the side, if desired.
